{Wedding Details} Calligraphy

15 Feb

I’ve always admired the beautiful, handwritten script of wedding invitations. Recently, I’ve begun an awesome community ed course called Basic Calligraphy. I’ve learned so much already, including that calligraphy is not about coming in with good handwriting, it’s another form of drawing. It’s like starting kindergarten again, learning to hold your pencil and then pen correctly, tracing the letter forms to learn muscle memory, and practicing.

Although my script is far from the likes of what is seen on Style Me Pretty or others, it is a stepping stone. I continue to be inspired by beautiful script and the artistic talent of those who make it. Calligraphy is truly an art form.

Calligraphy is a wonderful way to incorporate a handmade feeling into your wedding day. Whether it be the invitations, programs, or escort cards, calligraphy is one detail that is often overlooked by those planning in favor of (gasp!) printed alternatives. I will argue that the details make all the difference, and this is one detail that I can’t get enough of.

{Real Wedding} B + A

25 Oct

Following up on the sneak peek from Sunday, here are some more pictures from Saturday’s wedding. It was a gorgeous fall day, the bride had a beatiful beaded gown with an equally stunning high-collar bolero. Colors of celery green and deep red were a perfect palette for a fall wedding. {Inspiration Board} From India with Love

19 Oct
A friend recently took a trip to India and brought me back this beauty of a ring from Delhi. It is a statement piece and I love the turquoise, gold and chocolate color combination. This is a great color to pull into your wedding pallete – through stationary, jewelry, the list can go on and on. Gold tones warm up the blue – making a beautiful color combination, just like my ring.
Here’s how I was inspired by the colors:

Color of the Week: Orange

8 Oct

One of my all-time favorite colors is ORANGE. A little pop of orange goes a long way. Not only is it bright and bold, it pairs perfectly with neutrals like gray and tan. I love orange so much that it was a huge part of my own wedding – we incorporated grey, orange, and coral.

This bouquet and stationary suite showcase how lovely orange can be, when it’s done right.
