{Wedding Details} Calligraphy

15 Feb

I’ve always admired the beautiful, handwritten script of wedding invitations. Recently, I’ve begun an awesome community ed course called Basic Calligraphy. I’ve learned so much already, including that calligraphy is not about coming in with good handwriting, it’s another form of drawing. It’s like starting kindergarten again, learning to hold your pencil and then pen correctly, tracing the letter forms to learn muscle memory, and practicing.

Although my script is far from the likes of what is seen on Style Me Pretty or others, it is a stepping stone. I continue to be inspired by beautiful script and the artistic talent of those who make it. Calligraphy is truly an art form.

Calligraphy is a wonderful way to incorporate a handmade feeling into your wedding day. Whether it be the invitations, programs, or escort cards, calligraphy is one detail that is often overlooked by those planning in favor of (gasp!) printed alternatives. I will argue that the details make all the difference, and this is one detail that I can’t get enough of.

{Wedding Dresses} Temperley London

30 Dec

Just this week, while pouring through the newest edition of Martha Stewart Wedding magazine, I stumbled upon a beautiful dress by Temperley London. I’m immediately to it’s chic lines with crystal embellishments and cut out sleeves. Then, I went on to find a real wedding with the very same dress. This is a great way to visualize how an entire wedding can be built upon the style of dress. In this case, the dress is a throwback to the Hollywood of the 1930’s. This bride and groom took that inspiration and brought true vintage style to their wedding day. Continue reading
